Front Row’s School Supply Drive!

Please join Front Row Theatre Company in collecting supplies for Morton Elementary School’s MicroSociety project. The public school in South West Philadelphia was chosen to participate in an interdisciplinary project that encourages children to take ownership of their education by creating and running their own businesses, and Front Row would like to provide them with the resources to do so. Supplies needed for the student’s businesses include any cleaning supplies, plastic kitchenware, sports equipment, crafting supplies, nail supplies, and more.

FTC Presents: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Play by TOM STOPPARD
Directed by SARAH ZEROD
Produced by GREG OLBERDING

In a world where heads always wins and pirates can happen to anyone, this fabulously inventive, existentialist tragicomedy thrusts two of Shakespeare’s most incidental characters into the limelight. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern have been summoned to Elsinore by the king. Their purpose: to glean what afflicts Hamlet. The intrepid, if somewhat bewildered, travelers make their journey, meeting a ragtag group of players along the way. Unsure of both the game and the rules, the until-now-unsung heroes are destined for a more chilling end.

FTC PRESENTS: TRIBES

Play by NINA RAINE
Directed by MIRA TAICHMAN
Produced by JESSICA SCHWARZ

ASL interpreters will be present on Thursday and Friday!

Tribes is the story of a highly dysfunctional family, complete with a crassly inappropriate father, a mother who tries to keep him in check, and three twenty-something-year-old kids who are stuck living begrudgingly at home. The family’s chaotic balance is upset, however, when their deaf youngest son Billy brings home Sylvia, a young women from a deaf family who is going deaf herself. Sylvia’s background, lifestyle, and worldview force Billy’s family to confront a series of uncomfortable questions: How do we define our identities? Why do people feel that they are insurmountably different from one another? How do we preserve the unique, precious traits that set us each apart without letting them become justifications for isolation, exclusion, and ignorance of others? Through its humorous but stingingly honest script, Tribes forces us all to examine how we understand ourselves in relation to the people around us—strangers and loved ones alike.
