We offer performance opportunities for both musical theatre and straight plays, comedies and tragedies and everything in between! Auditions are generally held in September, November, and February for our Fall, Winter, and Spring productions, respectively. The specific times and dates will be posted both on this website and on our Facebook page, so keep checking back!

For freshmen looking to get involved in Penn’s theatre community: look out for our booth at the Student Activity Fair!

Calling all techies! For each production, we need lighting, sound, props, costumes, make-up, and graphics, and a lot of creative people to make them all happen. We’re looking for people interested in design, carpentry, and stage-managing!

If you don’t know how to work a lighting board or build a set, it’s okay! We can teach you. This is a great way to get involved in the theatre community at Penn, meet some cool people, and learn some pretty cool new skills. Tech interviews are held the week after auditions, and all info will be on our Facebook page – so stay tuned!

FTC is dedicated to performing socially relevant student-directed theatre in intimate settings, fulfilling our unwavering desire to have fun, and bringing high quality production values to everything we do. We accept director proposals and hold director interviews for our entire season at the end of each academic year, in April.

We are currently accepting director proposals for our entire 2015-2016 season! Proposals are due by April 25th at midnight.

Your submission should include:

  • 7 copies of a proposal that discusses your vision of the production, why it’s appropriate for FTC, and why you want to direct for FTC. Be sure to specify for which season(s) you wish to propose
  • 7 copies of the play you are proposing
  • OR one digital copy of EACH, sent to Carson House at

You may propose for more than one season! We select our season by director, not by show, so although you will be proposing one particular show, it may be helpful to have other shows in mind! We also accept student-written work.

Looking for inspiration? We have many play suggestions and would be happy to help you choose. Some past productions include All My Sons, Venus in Fur, The Shadow Box, Edges, Rabbit Hole, Cabaret, The Lion in Winter, The Last Five Years, The Children’s Hour, God of Carnage, Proof, Zanna Don’t, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Bug, At Home at the Zoo, No Exit, Speed-the-Plow, Copenhagen, Stop Kiss, Equus.

Front Row Board
535113_10150692636686312_347400328_nFront Row Board is at the heart of every company production, choosing the season’s shows and directors, as well as assembling the entire production staff. Each board member takes on a set of responsibilities to help run the company, and works on each Front Row production.

Anyone who acts in an FTC show or works on the production automatically becomes a member of FTC, and is eligible to vote in Board elections. Anyone who is a member of FTC is eligible to run for Board. Board members are elected each spring.
